What art means to me

When I was young, I was encouraged to create and thrive in art. My favorite medium was drawing with pencil and sketch paper. Drawing holds such a special place in my heart because it has no limits. I could create anything I wanted and there was always something to learn. I was never interested in school. I felt like there was no freedom with my learning and I was constantly bored. With drawing and art, I had creative freedom to explore everything.

During the pandemic, I relied heavily on art. I taught myself to sew and I drew every day. The pandemic was really hard for me and the only thing that really helped me pull through was drawing. All the problems and worries I had disappeared when the pencil hit the paper. My art gave me meaning and reason to keep pushing. I am so thankful that I had the freedom to create and find meaning in my art because I don’t know where I would be without my drawings.
